ALL COMMUNITY INVITED
PERMACULTURE DESIGN CERTIFICATION COURSE
Permaculture teaches us to look at our ecosystems, our built environments, our community and existing institutions through a lense guided by ethics and principles inspired by nature. It helps us understand how we can effectively and efficiently conserve water, energy and resources, build healthy soils, grow an abundance and diversity of nutrient dense foods, reduce, reuse and recycle waste back into our ecosystems, build biodiversity and stable native habitat, create collaborative and equitable communities, and run regenerative and sustainable businesses that support our shared environment, economy and society.
Permaculture is a multidisciplinary and holistic design art and science, guided by ethics to care for the earth, care for the people and care for the future, and inspired, empowered and supported by principles found in nature, to create and maintain regenerative and sustainable human settlements and institutions.
We believe that this education provides people with practical knowledge and skills beyond employability in the 21st century. It provides meaningful life and career paths that will create a regenerative and sustainable future for all of us to enjoy. We believe that permaculture is indispensable to everyone's education, now and in the future.
For the past few months, About And For Sustainability trained a group of 10 community members from Orange County in a standard 72+ hours Permaculture Design Certification Course. This course provided them with the practical knowledge and skills to begin their journey of transforming our shared environment and community with permaculture design. During the course the participants visited multiple spaces with permaculture systems at play and engaged in hands-on activities to design and install full and partial elements of permaculture. The participants worked with 3 real clients to design their spaces. They designed the landscape and created plans for the phased implementation, maintenance and socially and environmentally conscious community and business opportunities for:
To further increase the awareness about what is possible with permaculture design and this education, About And For Sustainability is inviting any and all community members to participate in the final design projects presentations from this course. The presentations take place at the HQ of About And For Sustainability, a permaculture homestead in process, in San Clemente, on Saturday September 1st, starting at 2:00 PM.
Members of the community can join in person or online. The presentations are streamed LIVE on Facebook, Instagram, Paltalk and possibly other online video mediums. The presentations will be followed by a “talent show” and community celebration.
