2022 FAMILY HOLIDAY PHOTO & 2023 SUSTAINABILITY TRENDS Dear Friend, First thing is first: we, the family behind About And For Sustainability, wish you good health, joy and wisdom during the 2022 holiday season and beyond in 2023! May you be happy, healthy and wise in the upcoming year. Secondly, we’d love to share with you about 3 major things we will be engaging with in 2023 in hopes that you may be getting some insights into the sustainability trends we have been observing to date and anticipate to unveil next year and beyond. See below the holiday picture :) At the personal level, after a year of major life learning lessons and experiences, we are looking forward to the best year of our lives as a family in 2023. We are committed to continue to serve and heal our shared environment and community, and do it more effectively than ever. Here is the What, Why and How we will do that in 2023 (we hope you find value in the sustainability trends we woven through this share below):
What: Regenerative Farming Why: Because all large and respectable international and internationally acclaimed organizations and individuals that work in the realm of “the future of humanity” are pointing to regenerative agriculture as the #1 big impact solution to remediate and solve the current ecological crisis, and implicitly the social, economic and political crisis our entire world is experiencing (some parts more obvious than others); we kept our eyes on significant increases in investments in this realm from corporations and the civil society in 2022, with lots promised in 2023, and immense increases in government funds dedicated to this work around the world (the EU has been leading this endeavor so far and the US is about to surpass it in 2023) (we share about many of these sources of information in our Regenerative Sustainability Leadership course) How: We will continue to farm regeneratively, expand our operations, and provide fresh foods and medicine to our local community as we did in the past 3 years and will add more value-added organic herbal products available to a broader online community also (our farm’s website SunAndBloomFarms.com already features some of those products, including an Herbal CSA). For us, farming with permaculture principles is a no-brainer, because it will increase our family’s resilience no matter what the economy is doing out there. For deeper resilience, we are also growing friendships and partnerships with regenerative farmers in our community also. Currently, we are working on a job and partnership description for a farm operations & programing manager and are looking to bring someone on board to do this work with us as early as February. Investing our time and resources in regenerative farming will be one of our top priorities in 2023. What: Regenerative Sustainability Practical Education Why: Because we see the most sustainability serious employers out there looking for and responding well to experiential training as resume items, and we see many individuals wanting real life skills to develop their own sustainability careers, businesses, movements and world changing paths. We have gathered proof that this has been the case - some of our permaculture grads are now in politics, leading the sustainability conversation with unseen before wisdom; many other grads started their own related businesses, including design/install/education, and positioned themselves in niche sustainability markets; some grads get us called by Ivy League Schools and Fortune 500 companies to confirm about their learned capabilities and character, and that makes our hearts sing. We follow and educate ourselves from a myriad of big consulting companies, and every big name now includes positions that require some sustainability education - not just specialized job positions! Moreover, in our own experience with responding to many local government and other public entities’ sustainability related requests for proposals, we took note of a trend with high value given to sustainability education resume items also. Beyond that, our world absolutely needs more people with sustainability regenerative skills, values, attitude, dispositions, wisdom and ways of being. How: Our education will continue to grow leaders in the realms of permaculture and sustainability. We are only running the 2 weeks in-person permaculture course this year to have time for other valuable work (unless we find the right partner(s) to run all 3 versions), including the Regenerative Sustainability Leadership course, teaching in college, consulting high impact projects and farming. As always, through our work, beyond providing transformational educational experiences, we intend to build a community of powerful sustainability know-how-ers that we can partner with and recommend to the work we encounter in our consulting and teaching endeavors, and we are planning to make that happen in more unique ways this year. What: Regenerative Sustainability Consulting Why: First of all, because the financial rewards from this work have allowed us to build community around sustainability, provide high education at low to no cost to a large number of people that would have possibly not have had access to it otherwise, and further the shared impact of regenerative work via the people and projects we have sponsored. Second of all, because there is a lot of very well paid, high impact, sustainability work out there, more than we have ever seen in 10 years of working in this realm - and there are not enough earth and people centered professionals like us out there to do the work (also another reason we run our new course to discover and train those people). How: We will soon share our revived reEarth Consulting web page with reports about the work we have done so far, white paper format articles on sustainability regenerative industry trends and revived services that we are offering. Our focus, as the market demands it, will be on waste related public education and food & hospitality industry training projects. In addition, if we find the right partners, we will offer permaculture design and regenerative farm consulting. If you are interested in any of these subjects, stay tuned on our upcoming emails and consider taking our Regenerative Sustainability Leadership course to deepen your skills and relationship with sustainability. If you read so far, and you'd like to join that course, use Lucian10 at check out for 10% off the Course Cost. Happy Holidays and I look forward to staying connected with you in 2023! |
